Sing your heart a lullaby,
tuck it in to sleep
let the world go spinning by,
give up your need to weep.
Through your eyes the ferns will grow,
heavy nodding lashes
throat is full of flax-seeds now,
tiny rodent caches.
Birds’ nest woven through your ribs,
swallows soaring skywards
grass grows tall and thick around,
only cropped by stag-herds.
Silken spider spinning thick,
twines its fingers through your hand
fungal threads weave through your veins
tie you deep into the land.
Sing your heart a lullaby,
tuck it in to sleep
let the world forget your name,
the rest, let forest keep.
